Renewables Marketplace (renewables-marketplace.com) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.
Renewables Marketplace is operated as a sole trader / personal project based in the United Kingdom. For data protection purposes, we are the data controller. You can contact us at hello@renewables-marketplace.com.
We collect minimal data. Here is a summary:

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, payment details, or any account credentials. We do not require you to create an account.
The information you enter into the comparison form (postcode, house size, solar setup, etc.) is processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. It is not sent to or stored on our servers. Your postcode is sent to postcodes.io (a free, open-source UK postcode API operated by Ideal Postcodes Ltd) solely to look up your geographic region. We do not store this lookup or your postcode after your browser session ends.
Form values are temporarily held in your browser's sessionStorage so that if you return to the form, your inputs are pre-filled. This data is automatically cleared when you close the browser tab.
We aim to use as few cookies as possible. Currently:
Essential cookies: None at present. The site functions without cookies.
Analytics cookies: If we enable analytics (e.g. Google Analytics) in the future, we will update this policy and provide a cookie consent banner before any analytics cookies are set. You will be able to decline analytics cookies.
We use the following third-party services:

When you click an affiliate link to an energy supplier, you leave our site. The supplier's own privacy policy applies from that point.
Our legal basis for processing the data described above is legitimate interest — specifically, providing you with the tariff comparison service you have requested. For any future analytics, the legal basis will be consent (via a cookie banner).
We do not store any personal data on our servers. Form inputs exist only in your browser's sessionStorage and are cleared when you close the tab. Vercel may retain standard server logs (including IP addresses) in accordance with their own privacy policy.
Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. You also have the right to data portability and to object to processing. Since we do not store personal data on our servers, these rights are largely satisfied by default. If you have any concerns, contact us at hello@renewables-marketplace.com.
This site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time, particularly if we add analytics or new features. The "last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes.
